Sunday, August 11
Hi all!
Coach Griffith here, we so excited you guys are joining us! Our spiritual theme this year is living upright in an upside down world. My dad and I are looking forward to giving you chapels and devotionals to challenge, strengthen, and equip your strength. There are five big things I want to remind you all about.
1. Where to check in!
A. Check in on Sunday night (for early arrivers) will be at Pinecrest Christian Conference Center from 7 PM to 8 PM.
Pinecrest Christian Conference Center
1140 Pinecrest Rd, Twin Peaks, CA
B. Check in Monday morning will be at Church of the Woods From 7:30 AM to 8:30 PM.
Church of the Woods
1410 Calgary Dr, Lake Arrowhead, CA 92352
2. The 2024 schedule!
The updated 2024 schedule is here - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1EG0hi9WraxA8dv0PT-cJ9E2Zepwz8e8GDASkPJn3_Ds/htmlview#gid=1421469710
*Please check the schedule for updates, as this schedule will let you know where you’re supposed to be and when.
3. Shuttle Procedure
I want to make sure everyone is on the same page about this week's shuttle. so whether you are a student staying on campus, or parents staying on campus, or commuter we have simple instructions below :-)
Students staying on campus
Your instructions are super simple! If you don't have a parent or chaperone from your club giving you a ride, you just need to be ready for pick up at the designated times: 7:00am in the morning and 4:45pm!
Parents staying on campus
We do request that you plan to drive yourselves, but if that is not possible, we will have a ride for you as well! We will plan to take individual students first, but if a second shuttle is needed, we will arrive back around 7:40am.
If you do have a car and can drive your own kids or if you have permission to drive other students from your club, etc. that would be an immense help as we work to keep everything as efficient and timely as possible.
Commuting parents & students
Commuters will meet us directly at Church of the Woods (1410 Calgary Dr, Lake Arrowhead, CA 92352) each morning by 8:00am where we will have breakfast, worship time, devotions, and lectures for the day. Commuters are welcome and encouraged to go back with us to Pinecrest at 5:00pm where we will have dinner at 5:30pm and chapel following.
4. What to bring if you’re staying overnight at Pinecrest
we have a full checklist of what to bring and what not to bring so make sure you review the link here - https://nihd.homeschooldebate.net/what-to-bring
5. Defy The Lies (purity/moral excellence talk)
The long tradition continues as the defy the lies talk is back and God willing will be better than ever! I am 100% convinced that this talk has never been more relevant in the United States of America than it is today. I always strive to present relevant topics that are critically important for us to cover with our youth at this crucial cultural moment. But I never want to step on the toes of parents, so please see this link -https://nihd.homeschooldebate.net/defythelies and if you still have any questions or prefer your child not to attend just let us know, by contacting [email protected]. We will have a fun alternative for your child.
If there is anything that still isn't clear and you have a question about any of this, please give me a call at (909) 289-9856 or use the above email.
Finally, can I ask a big favor? Would you please join me and my staff in prayer??Specifically pray: 1) for the souls of our youth and that this week would lead many to fully surrender to Christ. 2) pray that we all fight to win the real spiritual battle we are facing at this pivotal point in our nations history. And 3) please pray that the camp is a blessing and an impact to all those attending and their families. We want to see lives changed for all eternity, so your encouragement and prayer means so much to me and the rest of the team.
Many blessings,
Coach Griffith
Thursday, August 1st
Good evening!
We are so looking forward to having you all at camp in just over a week! Thank you all so much for your patience as our schedule is shortly forthcoming. Those of you who are competing in debate can expect the casebooks towards the middle of next week as well!
General Schedule Overview
- Sunday Night Check-in: Check-in will be held at Pinecrest Christian Conference Center from 7:00pm - 8:00pm. Exact location of check-in on campus will be finalized in the days before camp, but expect it to be at the student bunk houses which are designated on the Pinecrest campus map. Dinner will not be provided on Sunday night.
- Monday Morning Check-in: Check-in will be held at Church of the Woods* (updated location) from 7:30am - 8:30am (updated). We will be set up in the foyer to the sanctuary right as you arrive! Breakfast will not be provided for those checking in on Monday morning.
- Friday Departures: On Friday, August 16th, camp will end at 5:00pm. On-campus students must have their belongings cleared out of the bunkhouses by no later than 10:00am on Friday morning. Due to our schedule, this will mean we will clear out by the time we depart for Church of the Woods* (updated location) and students will bring their things with them. Dinner will not be provided on Friday night.
- Daytime Locations: From 7:30am - 4:30pm each day we will be at Church of the Woods* (updated location) for our class breakouts. We will return to Pinecrest Christian Conference Center in the evening to have dinner, enjoy worship & chapel, and close out the evening with games. On Wednesday we will have a slightly modified schedule as we will return to Pinecrest slightly earlier to utilize some of the conference center's outdoor activities. Transportation to and from Pinecrest and Church of the Woods* (updated location) will be provided for on-campus students as needed.
Transportation
If you are staying on campus and will need transportation to and from Pinecrest and Church of the Woods* (updated location), please email [email protected] at your earliest convenience to let us know. We need an exact headcount so as to ensure we have the appropriate amount of space and buses if needed.
On-Campus - What you need to bring
For those of you staying on campus, please remember to bring your bedding! A mattress will be provided as shown in the photos, but please ensure that you bring a sleeping bag, sheets, a pillow, and blankets as preferred. See also the complete packing list here.
Last Chance for T-Shirts!
If you would still like to order a camp t-shirt, please do so by 12:00pm PST tomorrow (Friday, August 2nd)! We will be placing the final t-shirt order then and cannot significantly edit the order count after that point. The t-shirt design can be seen below.
Meals
If you are a commuter and would still like to do so, please finalize this by August 7th. We are now able to offer individual meals, however, these meals must be pre-purchased. Options for this will be updated on the registration board by tomorrow afternoon. The price will be $15 per meal.
Last Chance to Register!
We still have space for registrations, invite your friends! If you know of anyone that would like to register to attend camp, encourage them to do so and reach out if they have any questions. Let us know if you specifically recruit someone to attend so we can thank you with our $50 promotional discount.
